Q Newsletter No. 1/2014
Dear Madam and Sir,
It’s on everyone’s lips – butwhat exactly is integrated design? Not a secret science but a corporate culture. This was the view of the auditors who subjected our studios to a detailed QM assessment. Their conclusion: ATP became the first architectural and engineering office worldwide to offer integrated design services which carry ISO quality and environmentally certification.
In addition to this, at the end of March ATP was awarded the European Prize for Integrated Design. We are delighted that we are on the right path and that we are strengthening our pioneering role in the field of integrated design.
Equally delighted is Ulf Bambach who draws very positive conclusions about not only the growth of ATP Frankfurt into an office with 70 architects and engineers, but also the future of the team from ATP health.
Heartfelt greetings from the

ISO Certification: “Integrated Design for Architectural and Engineering Services”
ATP is the first architectural and engineering office worldwide to offer ISO quality and environmentally certified integrated design
“The decision to subject our design processes to a critical external assessment which we then documented and published bears witness to our continuous striving to improve ourselves. This makes us even more delighted with the excellent result of the ISO certification process which means the maximum possible security for our clients in terms of the quality and the workflow of our building processes”

SCS: General refurbishment of Shopping City Süd
The refurbishment of Europe‘s largest shopping center has been completed.
The refurbishment of existing buildings is one of ATP’s core competences. The management of an entire project involving so many participants - including numerous consultants and external designers – and the resulting change management process demanded a sophisticated project and communication structure. According to the architect Andreas Schaller of ATP Vienna: “the requirements for refurbishing a building of this scale while it continues to operate normally can only be met by an integrated design process”. The transformation of the main building from an apparently dull and cramped inhomogeneous structure into a light-filled, friendly and generous shopping and leisure arena is dramatic.

Ulf Bambach and ATP Frankfurt – a Success Story
Once the celebrated architects of the “Mainhattan” Skyline – now a comeback as European pioneers in integrated design
Ten years after the change of guard at Novotny Mähner Ass. (N+M) and five years after becoming full members of ATP architects engineers, the next generation has drawn a very positive conclusion. According to the architect Ulf Bambach, ATP partner and Managing Director of ATP Frankfurt: “we have successfully returned the restructured office to winning ways. In the past few years we have increased staff numbers from 25 to 70.” This completes the transition of the traditional Frankfurt designers of office towers into the Frankfurt branch of one of Europe’s leading architectural and engineering companies. In February 2014, Ulf Bambach announced the renaming as ATP Frankfurt, which means that the name N+M belongs to the past. Bambach: “We feel that it is important that our corporate name also underlines our successful development.” ATP Frankfurt now designs across the real estate spectrum as well as for the retail, industrial and research sectors. A further area in which the office has established itself across Europe is the health sector. The integration of the hospital designers APF led to the establishment of the in-house design company ATP health which is now also based in ATP’s office in Offenbach am Main.

ATP architects engineers has won the 2014 GB ID Award
The European prize for integrated design was awarded across Europe for the first time
Frankfurt, Vienna – the European GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award 2014 was presented in Frankfurt for the first time during the IEECB conference (Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings). The prize went to ATP architects engineers (Vienna) and the Vienna Business Agency for aspern IQ. The building convinced the jury with its combination of optimal energy efficiency standards with reasonable costs and the bestintegrated design process compared with other nominees from around Europe. The architect Horst Reiner, ATP partner and Managing Director in Vienna accepted the prize: “we are completely convinced that integrated design is the prerequisite for sustainability. We have been integrated designers for 38 years, which makes me particularly delighted by this recognition of our work.” aspern IQ is the flagship project of aspern: Vienna’s Urban Lakeside, one of Europe’s largest urban development areas. ATP was commissioned with the integrated design of the building after winning the EU-wide realization competition in 2010 with a Plus Energy building concept. Aspern IQ was completed in 2012. The GB ID Award was organized in cooperation with the European GreenBuilding Program of the European Union, with the aim of publicizing excellent integrated design processes.
