Weberzeile
Opening of the new inner-city shopping center at the heart of Ried
Ried, 28th August 2015 – WEBERZEILE is the name of the modern inner-city shopping center in the heart of Ried (AT) which ceremoniously opened today with a huge party. The new shopping world has been created in a location which, a century ago, was occupied by the weavers and dyers who did much to give the town its identity. The new WEBERZEILE (Weavers’ Street) will enhance the town center for years to come.
In the words of Robert Kelca, a partner of ATP Innsbruck, “Weberzeile will act as a strong magnet for downtown Ried. We have been successful in creating a contextually appropriate inner city shopping center which integrates modern retail space into a working town center. As experts for retail architecture we have worked with the client and all our designers and other project participants to draw up a sustainable concept which will continue to work successfully for the entire lifecycle of the huge development.”
ATP architects engineers (Innsbruck) was commissioned with the Integrated Design of the inner-city shopping center on the basis of a competition-winning project. The site of around 22,000 square meters is located on the town’s Altstadtring and offers space for 50 shops and service and restaurant outlets. In urban design terms, WEBERZEILE is a link between the city center and the commercial/industrial zone. With the second “town square” at the heart of the mall, the shopping world slips seamlessly into the existing urban grain. The shops are grouped around this central plaza and along the recreated shopping street whose colorful shopfronts draw strolling visitors in the direction of the old town.
