An insight into the “Weberzeile”

Press breakfast with site visit

Ried i. I. (AT), 3rd November 2014 – An exclusive press breakfast followed by a tour of the construction site offered interested media representatives an insight into the progress of the construction of the downtown “Weberzeile” shopping center. Mayor Albert Ortig and Marcus Wild, CEO of SES Spar European Shopping Centers answered questions from the press. “This site in the heart of the city is impressive not only for of its size but also for of its complexity, its appreciation of individual solutions and its charming architecture…” explained Marcus Wild.

At the end of the press breakfast the SES project manager Otto Brandstätter and Thomas Rautenberg (site supervision, ATP architects engineers) gave the visitors a tour during which they explained the concept behind and the technical challenges of the project.

Since the start of construction, 200,000 cubic meters of earth have been removed and 40,000 cubic meters of concrete and 5,000 tons of steel have been used in the building of 150,000 square meters of shuttered surface. “This makes the site logistics a particularly exciting challenge in this inner-city site”, explained Thomas Rautenberg von ATP.

The shell and core construction has recently been completed and the interior work will soon start on the shopping center which, with around 50 shops, service and gastronomic businesses, is scheduled to open in August 2015.
