Topping-out ceremony for Austria's first Plus Energy office building.
Vienna, 19th January 2012 – aspern IQ is the first office building in Austria designed in line with Plus Energy standards. ATP architects engineers of Vienna won the competition for the technology centre in 2009. Now after six months, 6.650 m3 of ecological concrete (with super sulphated cement), 700 tonnes of reinforcement, 40 km of building core activation and around 70.000 accident-free working hours, the topping-out ceremony has been celebrated. This represents the “completion” of the first element of the new, 240 hectare Vienna district of “Seestadt Aspern”.
Aspern IQ is an h-form building conceived to establish standards in the areas of innovation, energy efficiency and sustainability for the entire development. The first plot should thus be a model for the entire new district.
