The City of Opatija unveils a multifunctional shopping and leisure center
Opatija (Croatia), 10th September 2014 – A press conference in the Villa Angiolina provided the opportunity to unveil a major project planned for the Kuk area to the public.
The unusual design of the Riviera Center, a multifunctional complex in a spectacular location, was the center of attention. Not only the two small roof-top pitches for a range of ball games but also the shopping, restaurant, office, hotel, wellness and leisure facilities transform the magical location into an easily accessible oasis for the people of the city.
In the words of the architect Dario Travas of ATP Zagreb, “it was designed as a Croatian center for the local population while it also sets the standard for the quality of future building projects in the famous spa town and its surroundings”. The importance of the investment for the development of the region was confirmed by the statement of Mayor Ivo Dujmic that Opatija would use the project as an opportunity to implement a number of infrastructural measures.
In recent years, ATP Zagreb has designed a range of major projects in Croatia in the retail, hotel and leisure sectors, including the newly-built West Gate in Zapresic, the generally refurbished and redesigned Regent Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb and H&M and the ZTC shopping center in Rijeka.
