Urban integration
Integrated design of a downtown shopping district in Ried.
In a press conference developer and operator SES Spar European Shopping Centers gave more details about the planned retail destination. The modern downtown shopping district with around 22.000m2 of new retail, restaurant and service areas will be home to around 50 shops on two levels.
“The architecture of the shopping center is innovative and harmonically integrated into the townscape. The center merges into the existing town center as a way of offering a smooth connection with the town,” is how Marcus Wild, head of SES management, describes the concept. The mall consists of a central square with streets – a form derived from Ried’s historic urban structure.
Having won the competition ATP architects engineers has now been commissioned with the integrated design of the shopping center. After the intensive design of all details the project was submitted to the Authorities in Ried for approval in April 2013.
