Opening of the Kemmelpark Retail Park

Energy -optimized retail park in a disciplined larchwood envelope.

Murnau, 17.04.2013– Must retail parks be ugly? No, says Thomas Mattesich. His team from ATP Munich asked itself the question and took 1st prize in the competition. After a year on site the opening ceremony took place in the presence of the mayor.

In 2010 ATP Munich was commissioned by Ten Brinke Projektentwicklung GmbH to develop o concept for an energy-optimized local shopping center in Murnau (Bavaria).

The powerful building volume is the first building of the Kemmelpark development zone. In line with the importance of the location, the individual building elements are incorporated into a horizontal volume which is covered by a continuous flat roof. The key areas of façade consist of horizontal larchwood slats which ensure a close relationship with the surroundings.

The focuses of the new retail park are the Aldi and Edeka supermarkets. Furthermore, the complex includes smaller areas for other users (butcher, baker, pharmacy, hairdressers, fitness studio). The total usable space is ca. 5.000 m2.
