Opening of a research and office building for MAN truck & Bus AG

Munich, 20th July 2013 - The multifunctional “MAN A55 Nord” building which was designed by ATP Munich has opened as part of the MAN facility in Munich. The MAN Group is one of Europe‘s leading companies in the areas of commercial vehicles, motors and machinery.

The two-story building with experimental workshops, research facilities, test-beds and presentation areas is located below a four-storey office building with up to 300 workspaces. This volume continues down to the ground on the front side of the building in order to visually round off the volume. The design studio in the double-height and column-free modeling hall provides space for making 1:1 clay models of trucks and buses.

The new building slips elegantly into the powerful corporate architecture of the MAN complex. The six-story volume is aligned with the existing building and absorbs and continues the materiality and rhythm of the existing façade. Groundwater and concrete core cooling, natural ventilation, a highly efficient heat exchange system, photovoltaic equipment and an energy supply from four transformers make it possible for the energy-efficient building to operate autarkically.
