Groundbreaking ceremony for Makita
New office and logistics building
Fischamend, 24th June 2016 – Makita, the globally active manufacturer of power tools, has celebrated the start of construction of its new Austrian facility. The groundbreaking ceremony on the 23,000 m2 site close to Vienna was attended by prominent representatives from business and politics.
Between now and early 2017 the site is to become home to a state-of-the-art logistics facility together with an office building for around 60 employees developed by ATP Vienna. The integrally designed multifunctional complex embodies a flexible spatial solution for all of the client’s needs: from the movement of goods to a workshop for repairs. In addition to this, a large customer zone is also being created which will incorporate an exhibition and demonstration space as well as presentation and training facilities.
Visitors to the ceremony paid particular attention to the sense of identity conveyed by the façade to the office building: “The origins of Makita, our client, inspired us to incorporate elements into the façade of the administration building which are inspired by the semi-transparent partitions in Japanese tea houses”, explained ATP’s lead project manager, the architect Andreas Schaller.
