Expansion of the retail space
Revitalization of a shopping center
Vienna, 22nd June 2016 – A jolly party held on the site of the former Generali Center on Mariahilferstraße – which in future will be known as MAHÜ77 – marked the official start of rebuilding work. The concept by ATP Vienna for the refurbishment of the building complex envisages the transformation of the two-story mall into three state-of-the-art shops as a result of which the available lettable space will be increased.
"We have eliminated the existing mall, closed the openings in the slab between the ground and first floors and removed the escalators. This has enabled us to increase the retail space significantly and offer the client the basis for the creation of state-of-the-art shops”, explained ATP project leader, the architect Markus Lentsch.
The first signs of the remodeling can already be read on the new glass façade: three symmetrically arranged entrance areas now draw visitors into the three separate sales levels, with a two story entrance element giving access to the first floor unit. This will permit shoppers to move quickly and directly from the bustling meeting zone of the Mariahilferstraße to the shop of their choice.
