Refurbishment

The state-of-the-art INTERSPAR Wels is being created in two phases while the center will continue to operate throughout.

Wels, 1st June 2016 – INTERSPAR and representatives from the world of politics took the opportunity of a party to launch the remodeling and expansion of the existing shopping center. The architects and engineers of ATP Innsbruck were able to excite the gathered guests and media representatives thanks to the new design of the building with its large amounts of glass and timber.

With a sales area of around 3,500 square meters the new center appears particularly bright and airy. “The special feature of the design is the way in which the two rolling canopies merge into a sweeping timber roof. This imposing structure could only be realized with the help of the BIM (Building Information Modeling) method used by ATP architects engineers”, explained the architect Philipp Berchtold.

The concept envisages a two-phase refurbishment during which the center is able to continue operating. The new shopping center consists of an INTERSPAR hypermarket, an INTERSPAR restaurant and a row of shops. It is also home to the INTERSPAR Gastro College – a training center for the approximately 900 employees of the market gastronomy departments of all the client’s Austrian facilities. The opening is planned for summer 2017.
