Laying a foundation stone in Japanese
Milei celebrates the laying of the foundation stone for the expansion of its plant with a traditional Shinto ceremony.
Leutkirch, 17th July 2014 – ATP Innsbruck and their Allgäu-based client Milei have celebrated a very special project start. As a gesture to the Japanese parent company, the laying of the foundation stone was marked with a traditional Japanese Shinto ceremony. Around 100 invited guests experienced the ceremony, which is rarely seen in Austria, and which was led by a Shinto priest who had specially flown in from Tokyo. Highlights of the ceremony included the anointing of the ground, the apology to God about the likely construction noise, the plea for a safe building process, the symbolic working of the ground by client and architect and, to finish, the submission of offerings. The fact that the architect Stefan Kaiser of ATP Innsbruck mastered his role with such aplomb should mean that nothing stands in the way of a successful execution of the project.
Milei is a 100% subsidiary of the Japanese Morinaga Group. Besides producing milk powder, the Allgäu plant specializes in the production of Lactose. The existing plant will be completely modernized in two steps. In the future it will supply both milk and such specialties as baby food.
