Innsbruck, 12th November 2021 – Neue Heimat Tirol – Gemeinnützige WohnungsGmbH organized an invited, single-stage realization competition for the residential development of the former “Südtiroler Siedlung” in the district of Pradler Saggen in Innsbruck. The brief required a concept for the 4th phase of the complex, which was to be based on previously realized or planned phases. The design by ATP Innsbruck was awarded 1st prize.
The design seeks to further develop the basic urban idea of the Siedlung – or housing estate – and envisages a third residential tower and two district squares. This third tower ensures a balanced density across all building phases and helps to zone the complex. It also creates space for around 30 more units than required.
The design of the external areas, with countless pedestrian routes and generous open and green spaces, creates a high-quality living environment for the residents while encouraging social exchange. The project is dominated by a balanced mix of communal areas and quiet zones.
A clear and economic building services concept and an energy supply based on renewable sources guarantees low energy demand. The design takes account of the requirements for both Passivhaus Plus and klimaaktiv Gold certification.
