Vienna, 24th October 2019 – In order to shed more light on the area of building services, which is often ignored by the media, TGA Magazine and WEKA Industrie Medien invited interested parties to their 2nd international conference. As a specialist for sustainable and energy-efficient building services concepts ATP sustain, ATP’s research company for sustainable building, was invited to deliver a lecture.
Michael Haugeneder, Managing Director of ATP sustain, described the potential of the lifecycle-oriented energy balance to the interested audience: “This offers clients a completely new way of looking at the interaction between architecture, building physics, and building services.”
He explained this further via the example of the recently completed tz2 (in Seestadt Aspern). From the earliest phases of the project, ATP sustain introduced basic measures developed from a consideration of the building’s entire lifecycle. In order to optimize energy demand and improve operational energy efficiency, ATP sustain analyzed the ongoing design by, for instance, evaluating variants for the building services and façade design by means of dynamic building simulation and also assessed the energy balance using a DIN 18599 calculation. A total of six variants based on three supply systems were compared in economic terms with the help of lifecycle cost calculations over a period of fifty years.
And this work brought dividends! With 935 out of 1,000 ÖGNB points tz2 is – thanks to the expert energy consulting from ATP sustain – one of Austria’s 30 most ambitious and climate-fit buildings.
