Raise the Curtain and... Action!

ATP's Christmas Donation for 2017 goes to the 1st Architecture Film Days in Zurich.

Zurich, 17th – 19th November 2017 – Architecture and film have provided each other with mutual sources of inspiration for generations. On the initiative of our Swiss office we used this year’s Christmas Donation to support Zurich’s first Architecture Film Days which were organized by the architect Ágota Komlósi and the musician Péter Polány from Hungary. With the help of films from every corner of the globe the organizers ignited the interest of the young audience for the sweeping dimensions of architecture.

Architecture is just like the film business: Quality requires inspiration, clear leadership, and a perfectly coordinated team. We are proud to have supported this initiative as the Main Partner and are enjoying the many aesthetic moments in the cinema,” was the delighted reaction of Michael Gräfensteiner.

The total of 22 main features and short films shown by the organizers in the Stüssihof Cinema in Zurich’s Niederdorf portrayed the diversity of architecture and the relationships between buildings and a range of historical, socio-political, and technical subjects. The cinematic journey took the audience from America to Korea and from Scandinavia to Africa while the spectrum of films stretched from deeply architectural works by Bjarke Ingels to sociologically interesting insights into infrastructures devoid of people, wholesaling in China, and architecture for refugees. In addition to the films the organizers also arranged intense discussions and talks on subjects such as “The Role of Women in Architecture”.
