Lauf an der Pegnitz, 11th November 2020 – Following the successful completion of a new ward building (2017), ATP HAID in Nuremberg was commissioned to plan a further construction phase of Lauf Hospital. At a site visit in mid-November the team led by Lead Project Manager Stefan Berger gained a first impression of the existing OR. The ATP project team is currently developing the functional concept in close cooperation with the users of the clinic. Construction is projected to start in 2022.
The new-build and remodeling measures planned by ATP will facilitate an improvement of the operational organization of the hospital thanks to a restructuring of medical areas with complex operational processes. At the same time, a new OR should be added, the emergency admissions department redesigned, and the number of beds increased thanks to the adding of an extra story to the nursing wing. The project is divided into five different focal areas: general care, emergency admissions, radiology, the central building, and the surgery department.
“In order to avoid any restriction on the functioning of the hospital, all work will be carried out while normal operations continue,” explains the architect Stefan Berger of ATP Nuremberg. “For many planners this would certainly be a huge challenge, but for us it is an incentive to provide a further convincing display of our planning strengths.”
