Neukirchen bei Altmünster, 30th August 2022 – The Seminar and Sales Center in Attersee am Attersee that was integrally designed with BIM by ATP architects engineers for Viega has been nominated for the Energy Globe Award Upper Austria. Due to its excellent ecological footprint and particularly environmentally-friendly energy concept, the building has already been awarded DGNB Platinumand klimaaktive Gold certification.
The state-of-the-art Seminar and Sales Center for Viega, the leading global supplier of installation technology, is an ecological flagship project: The building, which was integrally designed with BIM by ATP Vienna and ATP sustain, is particularly resource-friendly, meets the latest criteria of the European Green Deal, and, as a plus-energy building, generates more electricity than it consumes. In addition to this, as a best-practice example it provides the content for much of the training itself. All the information about the water and energy requirements of the building, external heat input, and internal cooling loads are evaluated as part of a comprehensive monitoring process.
“At ATP, we feel a true sense of responsibility to the environment and want to use new ways of thinking and acting to establish climate-friendly building as the norm. We are proud that this commitment has now been rewarded with the nomination of the Viega Seminar Center for the Energy Globe Award”, says a delighted Horst Reiner, ATP’s partner in Vienna.
Building for the future
A large number of “passive” measures (building method, high level of airtightness) keep energy demand as low as possible. The positioning of the building is optimal in energy terms, given that it can benefit from high sunlight levels in winter while being protected from “overheating” in summer. The “active” measures by the ATP design team include the use of renewable energy sources, mechanical ventilation with highly-efficient heat recovery, and low-temperature storage systems. The large-scale PV plant not only meets the building’s own electricity needs but also feeds surplus power into the grid as a means of balancing out the company’s CO2 emissions.
Rigorously integrally designed with BIM
The Viega building owes its forward-looking functionality to the integrated design process that ATP has been perfecting over more than 40 years. As it was completely integrally and digitally designed with BIM, detailed forecasts could be made for both the construction and the entire lifecycle costs of the center. All building data is also available to the client for operational use as part of the efficient facility management system (BIM2FIM).
The Energy Globe Awardis regarded as one of the most important energy prizes worldwide. It honors particularly sustainable projects that focus on saving resources, energy efficiency, and the use of renewable energy. Given the fact that we already have good, implementable solutions for many environmental problems, the objective of the award is to present innovative and sustainable projects to a broader public. The prize is awarded at the regional, national, international, and continental levels. Each year around 800 projects and initiatives are submitted worldwide.
The virtual presentation ceremony of the Energy Globe Upper Austria takes place on 15th September 2022 at www.energyglobe.at.
