Vienna, 15.06.2021 – The housing project “Parkanlage Korneuburg”, which was accompanied by ATP sustain, has received klimaaktiv Bronze certification, an “award for commitment to climate protection”, from the Ministry for Climate Action.
The project
Between now and December 2021, five high-quality buildings in the style of urban villas that are set in a communal park-like garden will be built on a site of around 21,000 square meters in Korneuburg. The ensemble of new buildings was developed by a design team consisting of Moser Architects (until submission) and ATP architects engineers (integrated execution design), while ATP sustain accompanied the project in the areas of building physics and certification.
Embedded in the picturesque landscape of the Weinviertel yet still close to Vienna, Parkanlage Korneuburg brings together residential and natural spaces in a highly harmonious project that combines living in greenery with the comfort of a city dwelling. The particularly high quality of the landscape design offers both very private spaces and opportunities to spend time together: These include the raised beds with traditional varieties of fruit and vegetables that invite residents to potter together in the garden, outdoor fitness and relaxation areas, generously designed playgrounds, and outdoor pools.
The certification
The klimaaktiv building standard of the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology is an established quality label for sustainable building in Austria. As a result, it offers guidelines of how to guarantee climate-friendly, ecological, and comfortable living and working.
During the award ceremony, the Minister for Climate Action Leonore Gewessler congratulated the klimaaktiv flagship projects and pointed to the huge significance of the building sector as we move towards climate neutrality by 2040: “Climate protection is the major issue of our time. Whether refurbishment or new-build – every single building project in Austria offers huge potential for reducing the consumption of energy and resources in the building sector and, hence, contributing to the achievement of our climate goals. The winning projects show us once again how energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly building and refurbishment can be successfully realized.”
Sustainable building
By fulfilling the basic klimaaktiv criteria, the housing project “Parkanlage Korneuburg” meets the requirements of the Austrian quality label for sustainable residential and service buildings. Constantly striving to obtain such building certifications is part of the self-image of ATP sustain and central to its declared goal of building in an ecological and resource-friendly manner.
