Zürich, 7th December 2021 – ATP’s subsidiary for experience-oriented architecture, Mint Architecture, has received the German Design Award Special 2022 for its Jelmoli project.
In 2021, the traditional Zurich department store Jelmoli opened two new outlets in the multifunctional The Circle quarter at Zurich Airport, which, due to its scale and architecture, is one of the most spectacular Swiss buildings of the past few decades. The design concept adopts the architecture of the urban quarter and translates this into a unique shopping experience.
The architecture of the façades and interiors is derived from the interaction between materiality, texture, transparency, and reflection. The highlights of the lifestyle and sports house are the different yet corresponding façades: The dark façade, with its partly exploded herring-bone optic, is sometimes matt and sometimes glossy, while the translucent, specially printed glass façade reflects the surroundings and the golden metal façade embodies performance and dynamic. In combination, the materials communicate the brand values of timelessness, quality, and modernity.
