BIM & Sustainability

ATP Partner Dario Travaš speaks as part of the Green Building Virtual Study Tour Vienna

Online, 24th September 2020 – What are the advantages of sustainability certification? What measures are necessary for a “Green Building"? And what role can architects or engineers play here? These and further questions were posed during this year’s – for the first time virtual – Green Building Study Tour, which stopped off in Vienna at the end of September. Leading experts in the area of sustainability spoke during a webinar on the subjects of sustainable building, certification systems, and the impact of climate change on the construction industry.

In a lecture entitled “Our understanding of sustainability in architecture and building,” Dario Travaš, ATP’s Managing Director in Zagreb and Head of Design in Vienna, explained the advantages of integrated design with BIM for the conception of “Green Buildings”. He used a selection of ATP projects to show how sustainable design can be successfully implemented in practice.

In his lecture, Travaš spoke about a sustainable new form of modeling or “Algorithm Aided BIM”. This combination of algorithm-aided design and building information modeling uses algorithms to generate parametric object models, which, in turn, open up many new design possibilities.
