AVL Tech Center
Opening: Testing and development center for the automotive industry
Bietigheim-Bissingen, 26th January 2016 – AVL is the world’s largest independent company in the development, simulation and testing of powertrains – from internal combustion engines via hybrids, electrical motors and batteries to software. The new Tech Center for AVL designed by ATP Frankfurt is a technology, production and office building for the automotive industry. An opening ceremony was held to mark the start of operations in the new building – which is conveniently located on the A81.
“ATP has many years of experience of designing for the automotive industry. This makes us particularly delighted to have developed such a forward-looking building,” explains Andreas Salamon, ATP Frankfurt’s project leader. The building services engineer adds: “as integrated designers we were able to perfectly coordinate the work of architects, structural and building services engineers and site supervisors as they realized a state-of-the-art, complex and, at the same time, energy-efficient technology center.”
The new AVL Tech Center, which meets the latest standards in terms of equipment and efficiency, is a development and testing center for automotive powertrains. It features two emission and NVH four-wheel roller test beds, several HIL systems, a NVH motor test bed, two powertrain and, initially, four motor test beds. The car and motor assembly areas, workshops, laboratories, warehouse and offices occupy a total of 20,000 square meters.
