Christoph M. Achammer on the role of integrated design in lifecycle-oriented revitalization
Vienna, 29th October 2014 – The hot topic of “Revitalization” was the focus of this year’s Autumn Congress of IG Lebenszyklus - entitled “A Future for Existing Buildings” – which took place in the Austrian Economic Chamber.
The revised version of the 2013 guidelines “The path to lifecycle-oriented buildings” was presented to around 220 experts from the construction and real estate sectors and representatives of public and private clients. The guidelines condense the content-based and organizational management of the entire design process into a single scope of work for “process management/design”.
“This should ensure that the integrated design process, which has been standard in other sectors for years, is also used in building,” said Professor Christoph M. Achammer of IG Lebenszyklus Hochbau and ATP architects engineers, explaining the paradigm change which is supported by the possibilities of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
ATP architects engineers is a founding member of IG Lebenszyklus Hochbau. ATP CEO Christoph M. Achammer chairs the design working group and, as Chairman of the IGLZ, was centrally involved in the development of the guidelines.
