Eichplatz, Jena
ATP Frankfurt wins an urban design competition in Jena.
Jena, 27th December 2013– After an investor selection procedure with a number of phases, the concept from ATP Frankfurt/OFB for the redesign of the Eichplatz was selected for execution by Jena City Council. The area of around 1.5 hectares which has lain derelict for around 40 years is to be transformed into a “green” downtown district with a high quality of visitor experience.
“This will enable us to realize a dynamic and sustainable concept with an attractive mix of retail, restaurant, residential and public space. We have proposed an open urban district with a feel-good factor and a harmonic and diverse urban design which will also offer a high quality of life to future generations” said the architect Klaus Schmidt of ATP Frankfurt.
The main focus of the architectural concept from ATP Frankfurt is the design quality of the buildings; the concept combines historic, classical architecture with modern movement patterns. Completion is planned for 2016.
