ATP's Christmas donation is supporting Vienna's SOS children's Village.
Vienna, 1st December 2013– This year ATP architects engineers is fulfilling the wishes of our colleagues from ATP Vienna by helping Vienna’s SOS Children’s Village to build a new residential unit for children which will open in July 2014.
Our annual Christmas donation of 20.000 euros aims to give targeted support to establishments in regions where we are active with the objective of making a contribution to social development. This social engagement is another way of realizing our vision of “changing our world positively through excellent buildings.”
The new SOS Children’s Village apartment in Vienna’s 21st district will be home to up to eight children who are no longer able to live with their parents. They will be looked after by four carers with whom they will make joint decisions about their life: about family life, daily life, leisure time, kindergarten, school and professional training. The protective atmosphere will offer the often emotionally and psychologically troubled children the opportunity to experience new, positive relationships, to stabilize their lives and to slowly catch up with important stages in their development.
SOS Children’s Villages is a globally active aid organization. The objective of SOS Children’s Villages is to offer a new, long-term home to children who have to grow up without their parents, to help young people to become independent and to support and strengthen children and their families at times of crisis.
Reasons for which children enter SOS Children’s Villages include abandonment and neglect, the illness or psychological problems of parents, addiction or acute problems resulting from separation or violence within families. Great emphasis is thus placed upon the creation for the children of a stable environment with reliable persons with whom they can develop an attachment. SOS Children’s Villages residential units also have intense contacts with the birth parents of the children in their care. If the family situation improves, children sometimes return home after a time in a SOS Children’s Village.
SOS Children’s Villages in 133 countries offer homes to 80.000 children, educate 130.000 children in schools and training centers and support 430.000 children and their families in SOS social centers.
