Successful participation on the expert assessment process, Schwabinger Tor Munich, DE

The ATP-designed residential tower and residential and office block at Schwabinger Tor in Munich were extensively praised in the expert assessment process.

The sculptural reinforced concrete form of the S10 residential tower provides both an architectural connection between the new city quarter and the classical ensemble on the Ludwigstraße and an architectural visiting card for the entire complex. The solid 50 m high building is also subtly broken down by the detailed design in which generous floor plans structured by spatial elements – living Cubes – and heavily marked by the formal language of the loggia result in a flexible and open spatial concept.

Together with the hotel building, the urban building block of the residential and office block S30 frames the urban square of Parzivalplatz. With its ordered façade the powerful classical building provides a contrast with the abstract, modern buildings of the hotel complex and, hence, closes the ensemble surrounding the square. The sustainable energy concept includes a maximum of natural lighting and ventilation. The monolithic block of the office wing is divided vertically by bronze panels integrated into the reveals and the southern element of the residential block is also based on the loggia module.
