Realization Competition for a residential complex with 120 apartments on the Rennweg/Aspangstraße in Vienna's 3rd District.
The innovative urban design and functional concept establishes a connection between the individual building volumes, building elements and open spaces which gives the complex its identity. Located between Rennweg and Aspangstraße, the site is predisposed to the creation of two closed blocks to the two streetfronts and a further block in the center. The two attractively designed garden areas are characterized by the urban nature of Rennweg on one side and the open “Square of the Victims of Deportation” in the “Eurogate” district on the other. The design of the façades makes reference to these different external areas. The stepped design of the private areas of garden and shared green spaces (play areas) structure the courtyard and provide a fitting separation of private and public.
The entrances are generous and the connection between the building volumes is functionally optimal. The concept envisages smaller apartments with high levels of comfort. Furthermore, apartment sizes are flexible and the individual units offer opportunities for further adaptation by users.
