Nursing Station Refurbishment LKH Weststeiermark in Deutschlandsberg, AT
3rd prize for our concept with a focus on functionality and wellbeing
The convincing design by ATP architects engineers was awarded 3rd prize in the competition for the refurbishment of the nursing stations at LKH Weststeiermark in Deutschlandsberg. The concept focuses on the creation of a positive experience for patients, nursing staff, and visitors alike. The jury expressed special praise to the design and organization of the patient rooms, which offer unconventional solutions for the individual areas. The suggestion of rounding off the corners of the sanitary areas in order to simplify the movement of beds was particularly well received.
Spatial design as a “healing” environment
In order to create a sense of safety and comfort in the patient rooms, the design envisages the use of wood and light green tones in the interior. Specially developed wall cladding at the heads of the beds contributes to the optimization of the daily staff processes and to the finishes of the individual patient areas. These beds are oriented to the windows, opening up views of the outside. The seating area in the bay of each room offers everyone – regardless of their mobility – an attractive place to sit below the window.
