2nd prize for ATP in an urban design ideas competition
The energy service provider Mainova AG launched an open ideas competition for the development of a masterplan for the site of the company headquarters. The project by ATP architects engineers Frankfurt received 2nd prize.
Central idea: The city within the city
The new Mainova Campus in Frankfurt combines living, working, and leisure space. The proportions and the height of the various volumes establish a perimeter block solution with a green courtyard that is structured by a series of lower volumes. Local shops, restaurants, offices, and homes share the complex with a number of sporting and leisure facilities and a variety of green spaces. The result is a ‘city within the city’ that encourages dynamic interaction.
New working environments
A central office building is the new Mainova flagship. The visible hybrid constructional solution, communicative atrium, finely detailed timber façade, and generous levels of glazing combine to create an inviting gesture. The upper levels contain office space while the lower floors are home to the service center, sports facilities, exhibition space, and cafeteria. The training center, workshop apartments, and childcare facility are located in Phase B. The modern office landscape is designed to encourage flexible, mobile, communicative, and integrated working.
For the environment and the climate
Saving resources, energy efficiency, and the circular economy are the key aspects of the sustainability concept. In order to do justice to these demands, energy consumption is minimized while energy efficiency is increased and full use is made of regenerative energy sources.
The central meeting point is the generous green park surrounding the listed water tower. The roof terraces offer a wide range of leisure spaces – for getting together, for urban gardening, and for simply chilling out.
