Headquarters of TIROLER VERSICHERUNG
ATP honored in invited, single-stage realization competition
TIROLER VERSICHERUNG organized a single-stage realization competition for its new headquarters in Wilhelm-Greil-Straße in Innsbruck. Out of 22 invited architectural offices, the design by ATP Innsbruck was chosen as one of the final three. The project addressed the entire property, which is currently occupied by three buildings with a total above-ground GFA of over 7,700 m2.
Two faces, one sustainable objective
ATP’s design implements TIROLER VERSICHERUNG’s self-image as a locally-rooted and, at the same time, state-of-the-art company in the form of a diametric concept: Towards the city, the headquarters presents a series of staggered levels with a glass-based materiality; the semi-private courtyard with the corner terracing maximizes the green space. An open atrium links the two sides of the building and avoids any sense of visual separation between the levels. The planning team fulfills the organizers’ desire for energy efficiency and regionality in the form of the extensive greening of the building and the use of structural timber for the street-facing office wing and at ground-floor level.
The competition jury was particularly convinced by the clear differentiation between the façades: “The simple recognition that the perimeter of the competition is determined by a street face and a courtyard face enabled the designers of the project to create a harmonious design.”
