Design and Development Award

ALEJA has won another award

The shopping and district center in Ljubljana that was integrally designed with BIM by ATP architects engineers has won the Design and Development Award in the “New Shopping Centers from 15,001–45,000 sqm” category.

Experience-oriented retail architecture
With its rigorous and compelling implementation concept the shopping center provides the perfect platform for around 80 shops and restaurants. With its rooftop leisure, sport, and recreation zone and trendy food court the technically and architecturally innovative building creates a spectacular world of experiences while giving room back to the city.
The striking architectural design by ATP is a homage to the Slovenian capital: The interior quotes the urban-poetic charm of the city center, while the façade is inspired by Ljubljana’s heraldic animal. Thanks to its diamond-shaped anodized steel tiles with their various finishes, the building envelope recalls the scales of a dragon while also meeting ambitious aesthetic, lighting, and energy objectives.

ECSP Design and Development Awards
The Design and Development Awards have honored Europe’s most outstanding new and refurbished shopping center buildings every year since 1977. The prize is awarded by the European Council of Shopping Places (ECSP), the successor organization to the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). The ECSP Awards highlight European retail buildings that focus on the shopping experience.
