Munich, 4th August 2020 – The jury has met and we can celebrate: ATP has won the ICONIC AWARD 2020 for Innovative Architecture for IWC’s showpiece factory in Schaffhausen (CH).
“This award confirms the success of our culture of interdisciplinary cooperation and shows that visionary architecture and sustainable innovation stimulate each other perfectly”, is the delighted reaction of Matthias Wehrle, Managing Director of ATP Zurich, where the manufacturing center for the Swiss producer of luxury watches was integrally designed with Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Holistic and consistent design
Unpretentious, filigree, and contemporary – like an IWC watch – is the impression created by the IWC Manufacturing Center. With its aesthetic reference to the pavilion-like buildings of the Modern Movement, the architectural concept refers closely to the high-quality corporate design of IWC. Delicately placed in the landscape, the streamlined building complex appears to have little in common with a normal factory. The energy-efficient facility, which is designed to maximize flexibility, longevity, and cost-effectiveness, brings together the manufacture of components, movements, and cases, with a showroom for the visitors to the IWC World, all under one roof.
With its ICONIC AWARDS, the German Design Council honors the best international work in the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, and brand communication. Back in 2013, the year in which the award was established, ATP was honored for the G3 Shopping Resort in Gerasdorf. Further “icons” designed by ATP followed in 2018 (Educational Center in Holzgau), 2019 (HOFER ALPHA Retail Network in Eberstalzell), and, of course, 2020 (IWC Manufacturing Center in Schaffhausen).
