Sveta Nedelja, 17th January 2019 – Gebrüder Weiss, one of Europe’s leading transport and logistics companies, is building a new facility to the west of the city of Zagreb. ATP’s designers and their colleagues from ATP’s site supervision team were joined by the client and the executing companies in wintry temperatures to celebrate the laying of the foundation stone.
Signaling effect
The new logistics and transport center is being built close to the A3 motorway that links Zagreb with Ljubljana. “The architecture of the building is a result of the long experience of the well-known company Gebrüder Weiss in cooperation with ATP,” says Dario Travaš, ATP’s partner in Zagreb, explaining the design concept. “Orange, the corporate color of the company, is reflected in the façade and this creates a signaling effect that has a striking impact on the architecture as a whole.”
User-oriented design
ATP has a wide range of expertise covering such areas as masterplanning, overall logistical solutions for the production sector, retail and wholesale distribution centers, and other types of storage buildings. The modern functional building that has been integrally designed by ATP Zagreb is thus impressive on a number of levels. “The high-quality architecture always follows the functionality”, emphasizes Travaš, “which is fully aligned with the needs of the company.”
With a total area of around 21,000 m² the logistics hall and its ancillary spaces, the cross docking store, and the office element of the logistics and transport center form a rigorously designed unit. Working closely together with the client ATP developed the idea of breaking down the building mass into a series of large cubes, which are inserted sensitively into the natural spatial context of the site of around 53,000 m².
