Ceremonial opening of the second building in the Technology Centre Seestadt in Vienna

The with BIM integrally designed tz2 by ATP has been completed.

Vienna, 12th September 2019 – With the opening of the second phase of the Technology Center Seestadt ATP is writing another chapter in the success story of the city of the future. The technology hub, which was integrally designed with BIM in line with passive building standards, is a visible symbol of the smart community on the lake and confirms Vienna’s role as a “Hotspot for Industry 4.0” and a European pioneer in the field of intelligent urban planning.

“Optimal functional flexibility combines with the individual workshop courtyards that form part of the open space concept to perfectly meet the exacting requirements of tenants from the technology sector. Thanks to its high level of sustainability this building designed by ATP architects engineers represents another important milestone in the development of the Seestadt”, said Horst Reiner, ATP partner in Vienna at the press conference. The area of 5,600m2 is immediately available to companies for use as offices, laboratories and production areas. “Global players”, start-ups and “hidden champions”: Technology-oriented companies such as Aspern Smart City Research (ASCR), abix, Viewpointsystem, Theobroma Systems, and many others will be working alongside each other here in the future.

As in the case of tz1, which received a number of awards and was recognized as Austria’s first ‘plus-energy’ building, ATP was able to work together with the research company ATP sustain to more than meet the high sustainability expectations of the Seestadt thanks to a series of energy and resource-saving measures. With 935 out of a possible 1,000 ÖGNB points tz2 is one of Austria’s most climate-friendly buildings.

The next steps are already being planned. “The tangible mixture of modern technology and innovation in the project and the products of the tenants makes me determined to develop the quality of the current building in the subsequent phases even further”, says Hannes Achammer, architect and associate partner at ATP Vienna, who has overall responsibility for the project.
