Innsbruck, 4th October 2017 – As part of the award ceremony for the “State Award for Architecture and Sustainability” Gerald Hulka, ATP Partner in Innsbruck, and the architect Paul Ohnmacht, Head of Design, were delighted to accept an important award: The Austrian Federal Minister Andrä Rupprechter presented them with an “honorable mention” fur the remodeling and comprehensive refurbishment of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences of the University of Innsbruck which was designed by ATP Innsbruck. Amongst the key features of the university building is a reduction in energy consumption of up to 85 %.
Following its success in an EU-wide competition (2009) ATP was commissioned with the remodeling and comprehensive refurbishment of the Faculties of Architecture and Engineering Sciences (completion 2015). The project has already received a number of awards including the Energy Globe Tirol 2016, the TQB (Total Quality Building) Certificate and the klimaaktiv Standard Gold. In April 2016 the two Faculties (Architecture and Engineering Sciences) were presented the “Innovative Building 2016” prize at Vienna University of Technology. In September 2016 Austria’s Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) named the engineering tower a groundbreaking, Europe-wide “Building of the Future Demonstration project”. The comprehensive refurbishment of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences is one of two demonstration objects of “BIGMODERN”, a modernization initiative by the client, the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft m.b.H. (BIG).
