A1 Next Generation Data Center

Start on site: ATP Vienna is planning a state-of-the-art data center commissioned by IBM.

Vienna Floridsdorf, 05.07.2017 – The groundbreaking ceremony for the new A1 next generation data center marked the start of official building work on a redundant data center network with highly secure data connections that is unique in Europe. This will enable A1 Telekom Austria AG to meet the increasing demand for digital services and expand its digital footprint in Austria.

The general contractor IBM commissioned ATP Vienna with the integrated design and the specialist areas of architecture, structural engineering, and site supervision for the facility. The two-story data center will measure around 13,000 square meters and include four server rooms covering 2,550 square meters, a capacity of six megawatts, TIER III redundancy, and all relevant certification in the areas of availability and security. It will offer high levels of physical and digital protection as well as comprehensive monitoring of the IT infrastructure. Green technologies include cooling based on GES system technology, which makes intense use of the potential for free cooling during the cooler months with the objective of optimizing the energy efficiency of the data center.
