House of Gold

philoro Gold Factory in Korneuburg

Gold bars made in Austria: With the first gold smelting plant in Austria on the new company campus, philoro is setting new standards. A "floating gold bar" in the facade visually represents the function of the facility at the headquarters. The state-of-the-art GOLDWERK is conceptually, aesthetically, and technologically pioneering.

With the production and processing of precious metals, philoro aims to establish new production lines and thus take crucial steps in the European gold market. As the starting point for the construction of a new company location in Korneuburg, philoro commissioned us to carry out integrated design of a building complex with a headquarters, logistics center, and a 'State of the Art' refinery. Here, among other things, up to 120 tons of gold are produced annually.

Security and Efficiency in Focus
In addition to a representative appearance and expansion opportunities, security was of paramount importance. This was integrated as an integral part of the planning. The planning concept is tailored to the central core processes – production and processing of precious metals, storage, logistics with distribution, as well as general office and business tasks. The centerpiece of the new complex is the production hall with a refinery on a gross floor area of 3,600m

It is a very interesting, complex project. Both technical and safety-related peculiarities had to be taken into account. The time we invested in the master planning, thus in the preliminary planning phase, turned out to be crucial for achieving the desired goals in integrated design.

Facade with "floating" gold bars
As the new headquarters, the office building holds a special position at the new company location. The facade conveys seriousness, transparency, and elegance. Striking gold-colored slats also emphasize the corporate identity of philoro. The building stands out especially due to the interpretation of a "floating bar" in the facade. The effect is achieved through the three-step execution:
The ground floor, dominated by glass, provides insights into the modern sales area. Above it, the 1st floor stands out with massive, golden pilasters. The conclusion is the recessed 2nd floor with its dark enameled metal and glass facade.

In the spirit of the ATP Green Deal
The new gold factory in Korneuburg meets the highest sustainability standards and offers the best conditions for energy-efficient operation. Overall, the implemented measures save around 185 tons of CO2.
The heating and cooling supply is exclusively through renewable energies, i.e., reversible air heat pumps. In addition, the roof areas are used for photovoltaics and the waste heat from processes. The optimized building envelope allows for comprehensive heat and sun protection and partially natural ventilation with high comfort. Ecological building materials, used in selected areas of the interior design, meet the requirements for quality and regionality.
