Living Model for Empowerment

Inclusive Living World, Altdorf

For Lebenshilfe Nürnberger Land, we planned the pilot project 'Inclusive Living World', which explores new ways to strengthen self-determination and empowerment.

People with various disabilities of different severity levels not only meet people without disabilities in this residential model but also experience inclusion within a household community as a practical model.

The building consists of four residential groups of six residents each and one supervisor. Due to its sloping location, two stories can be seen from the south and east, while three stories are visible from the north and west. The spacious, bright foyer serves as the entrance area and heart of the house.

In the northwest, there is a spacious terrace area in front of the café, which has an open, inviting character and serves as a communication and meeting point. Each of the two upper floors contains two apartments. In addition to a living kitchen with a dining area, the residential groups also share an open communal space. In the southeast, there are two residential units for the supervisors.
