Refurbishment and new build: BMW Vienna is larger and more sustainable.

Vienna, 20th March 2014 The largest reconstruction project in the history of BMW Vienna began in September 2013. After around nine months of building work, ATP Vienna has increased the useable space of the building on Heiligenstädter Lände by around 2.200 m2.

The challenge was to refurbish an existing building from the 1980s and create new offices. The expansion of the showroom areas across three stories required the creation of a new building while the old building now also contains a seminar area. The high-rack warehouse for the storage of tires is, on the other hand, a new building.

ATP became involved in an ongoing project and was commissioned with the integrated execution design and the site supervision up to the completion of all customer-relevant areas.
The limited site area, the highly-optimized construction timetable after a very tight preparation phase and the requirement that normal operations should continue throughout could only be met by a disciplined integrated design process. This was facilitated by the close cooperation between ATP’s architects and engineers and the intense cooperation amongst all specialists throughout the execution period.

Sustainability

The building also hosts the presentation of BMW i. The company’s forward-looking electrical motor technology combines with the high aesthetic and sustainability demands made by ATP of its integrated design process to create a flagship of sustainable architecture for the exhibition of automobiles. A vertical garden is responsible for a pleasant internal climate and the complex features numerous charging stations for electric cars.
