INTERSPAR Imst as an architectural magnet

Imst, 2nd November 2016 – INTERSPAR was joined by representatives from the world of politics to celebrate the start of the construction of the new shopping center which is the latest result of the many years of positive cooperation between Spar and ATP. Members of the press and other invited guests were impressed by the design of the INTERSPAR cube with its cladding of traditional wooden shingles and the façade of over-dimensional shop windows.

The client sought a design which was convincing as a result of its strong presence and functional clarity. “In reference to the mountainous landscape the design concept is based on the motto ‘the barn meets the modern’. The center presents itself as a contemporary interpretation of a ‘barn’ which opens, surprisingly, to the outside. Large areas of glazing create the sense of an elegant object which is harmoniously integrated into the sloping meadow”, explained ATP’s Lead Project Manager the architect Ioana Berceanu.

The new shopping center incorporates an INTERSPAR hypermarket, an INTERSPAR restaurant and three further shops. The opening is set for March 2018.
