New HQ for Markas

1st Prize in invited competition

Bozen, 01.06.2016 – ATP Innsbruck wins in Bolzano, Italy: The office was awarded 1st prize in the invited competition for the new headquarters of the internationally active service provider Markas. The main task was to meet the needs of the growing company with more than 8,000 employees. It was also required that one should create a link with the center of Bozen to the west.

“Our idea was to mold the volume specified by the zoning plan in such a way that the permitted height of 40 meters was fully exploited without creating an overly slender, uneconomic tower”, explained the architect Paul Ohnmacht, Head of Design at ATP Innsbruck. “For this reason we designed ‘from top to bottom’ and left the lower floors open for later densification”.

The concept envisages an office tower which is well-proportioned in urban design terms, flexible and column-free and which enables its inhabitants to “work surrounded by greenery”, despite the central location.
