The most precious metal of all for Edeka

E-center in Gaimersheim receives DGNB platinum certification

Munich, 24th March 2017 – integrally designed by ATP Munich, the E-center in Gaimersheim - which has been attracting attention for mostly architectural reasons in the past few months – has now revealed its sustainable qualities. The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) certified the next-generation supermarket with the most precious of all metals: Platinum.

The achievement of this highest award under the DGNB system required very special measures. A green roof, battery charging stations for cars and e-bikes and an in-house ice storage tank contributed to meeting both the high expectations of the client and the requirements of the sustainability certificate. During the course of the execution design process the building services engineers of ATP worked together with the cooling designers and engineers of EDEKA Südbayern’s building division on the development of a cost-effective heating and cooling concept for the entire building. This makes logical and economic use of the industrial cooling and heat recovery systems as well as the ice storage tank.
