Ljubljana, 4th April 2022 – “Winner” in the “Public and Commercial Architecture” category: As the winner of the most points, the campsite in Zadar that was designed by ATP Zagreb has not only received this year’s BigSEE Architecture Award, but also been nominated for the Grand Prix Award 2022.
“In design terms, our principal aim was to underline the philosophy of camping, of living in the open air, with the help of high-quality architecture”, says ATP Partner and Head of Design Dario Travaš, explaining the concept. The entrance, restaurant, and wellness buildings and sanitary block are arranged in such a way that they remain visible despite the constantly changing topography of the camp. Their sculptural design is dominated by their roofs, which reach out far beyond the enclosed spaces below them and draw the surrounding nature into the architecture.
