Vienna/Schwechat, 14th February 2018 – The new office building at the OMV Refinery in Schwechat which was completed at the end of last year after a construction period of just 14 months has been ceremoniously opened in the presence of 150 invited guests. ATP Vienna was commissioned with the integrated design of the office complex as a result of its success in the realization competition. The team led by the architect Birgit Reiterer designed a lifecycle cost-oriented building with the expert support of the specialist design company ATP sustain.
The 13,000 m2 headquarters building is home to 300 employees. The architecture owes its expressive power to the importance of the new office building at the entrance to the refinery, its position on the airport motorway, and a range of technical requirements. The four volumes which appear to float above each other are supported by inclined sculptural columns.
The spatial program is perfectly adapted to the processes that occur within the building. In addition to this, the intelligent structural solution guarantees the maximum flexibility of the office areas. The head of the refinery Wolfram Krenn, whose colleagues have been using the building since its completion at the end of 2017, emphasized that the new office building meets the need for a modern working environment while its attractive modern architecture is the ideal complement to the industrial setting of Schwechat Refinery.
