Linz, 15th October 2019 – The need for a large amount of new space triggered the two-phase tender process for the large-scale expansion of the headquarters of LINZ NETZ for LINZ AG, which was launched in spring 2019. And the fact that the joint proposal by ATP Vienna and ATP sustain was accepted in summer 2019 was a real cause for celebration.
“A result of our integrated design expertise,” is how Dario Travaš, Head of Design at ATP Vienna, describes the successful project. The expansion consists of an office and an administration building as well as modern server spaces and a transformer. “Our concept creates a sense of identity while also being ecologically and economically sustainable.”
The representative heart of the new headquarters is the elegant office building with its glazed base. The façade of two-toned coated strips is designed to ensure that the building is a modern symbol for LINZ AG, even from far away. But this external skin also has great ecological qualities: “The innovative façade provides both sound insulation and visual comfort while the PV panels that occupy part of the south elevation also generate electricity,” says Michael Haugeneder, Managing Director of the research company ATP sustain.
ATP’s design for the façade of the second, somewhat more modest building incorporates large areas of vertical greenery. The electricity for the server spaces and the transformer in the building is provided by the complex’s own energy network, which is fed by renewable energy.
The ATP team is also full of energy: “Design work is moving ahead quickly. The construction of the new headquarters is set to start in November 2020,” reports the architect Birgit Reiterer of ATP Vienna.
