Munich, 9th–10th October, 2019 – “As strong as the real estate industry” was the motto of this year’s EXPO REAL, which focused on the subject of the increasingly smart and digitalized real estate market. ATP was present on two podia in the shape of Professor Christoph M. Achammer.
About district and network thinking
In his keynote address on the subject of the “Smart City of the Future – Utopia and Reality”ATP’s CEO sketched out possible answers to the question of how urban environments can be designed in future. “The increasing scarcity of space, land, and resources demands technical and social networks as well as new mobility concepts”, is how Achammer described the central challenge of the 21st century. “This means that, in the areas around busy public transport interchanges, we need streets made for people in easily understandable districts that are accessible by foot. E-bikes or similar transport are required for the intermediate zones that fill the city with green space, and cars for those areas that can’t be served by public transport due to their low density”, was his approach to a solution.
On the following day, Achammer was a gueston the ImpleniaStand, where he participated in a fascinating podium discussion on the challenges of refurbishment, new methods of project development, innovative contract models, and the development, conversion, and modernization of existing buildings. Here, cooperation was also the order of the day: Building has to be understood as a network task. It was argued that today’s challenges can only be addressed successfully together because increasing densities mean that no future project will stand alone.
