Bildungszentrum Maierhof

Refurbishment of a listed building at Klinikum Passau

Passau, 8th February 2021 – The completed Bildungszentrum Maierhof (BZM), which is located within the Klinikum Passau complex, has an impressive new look. The former abbey building is now home to a medical educational facility for 120 students, a training and simulation center, administration facilities for Klinikum Passau, and a ceremonial hall. After a construction period lasting four and a half years, the entire building was handed over to the client in January 2021.

“Transforming a listed hospital into an educational center in line with strict listed-building requirements while sensitively converting the hospital church into a ceremonial hall was a challenging task for us that we carried out successfully as an integrated team”, says Andreas Rieser, Managing Director of ATP Nuremberg, commenting on the completion of the BZM. The historic charm of the former Maierhof hospital was retained while the ATP design team gave the interiors a state-of-the-art feel that meets the needs of the students. The Bildungszentrum is directly connected with Klinikum Passau via an underground tunnel.
