BER Opens Terminal 2

T2, which was designed by ATP/amd.sigma in record time, has started operations.

Berlin, 24th March 2022 – Terminal 2 of Berlin Airport has started operations: On 24th March, the gates opened and the first 189 passengers took off and headed for London.

T2, which was the work of a design team formed by ATP architects engineers and amd.sigma strategic airport development had already been completed in time for the opening of the main terminal in mid-2020. Due to the pandemic, however, the extra terminal with a capacity of six million passengers had to remain in standby mode.

With a record planning and construction time of just 38 months, T2 is one of Germany’s fastest-built terminal projects. And thanks to Integrated Design with BIM, it was handed over on time, on budget and in line with all quality criteria, despite its many complex processes and delays in the definition of user requirements.
