Start of Construction for Flötzinger Brauerei

Green brewery – climate-friendly good taste

Schechen, 26th May 2023 – The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new brewery in Schechen in Upper Bavaria enabled the traditional company Flötzinger to mark an important milestone on the path to climate neutrality. With the help of the “ATP-CO2-Tool,” ATP architects engineers calculated the CO2 emissions for the construction and operation of the facility as a means of minimizing the consumption of both gray and red energy. “This is a key investment in the future of the brewery,” explained Managing Partner Marisa Steegmüller during the ceremony. A new tank farm and technical building will be completed by April 2024, followed by a filling plant and logistics center; brewing operations will initially remain in the existing brewery in Rosenheim.

In visual terms, the buildings form a harmonic ensemble with a clear formal language. Premium materials and a brewing process that visitors can see and experience communicate the corporate principles of regional connectedness and traditional, high-quality brewing.

The filling plant includes a logistics center, areas for beer-tasting and meetings, a “Schalander” or pub, staff facilities, and a workshop. The fair-faced concrete surface of the base creates a sense of robustness, while the upper areas are finished with timber cladding. The tank farm consists of a series of functional volumes: The large windows of the street façade offer views into the technical area while the levels above this are clad in copper-colored perforated metal. The base of this area is also clad in fair-faced concrete, while the thermally insulated zones have a homogenously closed façade of mineral wool panels.
