CURA: Beauty from Tyrol
Opening of an unconventional office and logistics building – perfectly integrated into its Innsbruck surroundings.
Innsbruck, 15th January 2016 – A ceremony has been held to mark the official opening of the new headquarters of the Tyrolean cosmetic company CURA Marketing. The growing company’s new base brings together all previous production facilities on a commercial site in Innsbruck. Set before a huge mountain panorama, the unconventionally designed complex with its office building and packaging and logistics building provides the urban planning transition between “hillside living” and Innsbruck’s industrial zone. The architect Robert Kelca, ATP partner in Innsbruck and Andreas Bause, ATP’s lead project manager guided interested guests through the bright, light-filled office spaces and functionally optimized packaging and logistics building. “The objective of the design process was to analyze the otherwise standard formal languages of offices and logistics in order to discover new solutions,” emphasized Bause.
Particularly impressive about the new complex – when compared with the usual glazed office buildings and metal-clad warehouses – is the harmonic interplay with the urban surroundings in which it is embedded. In response to the urban periphery to the south the five-story office building has the appearance of the modern interpretation of a town house with plastered brick walls. In contrast – but also in harmony – with the office building, the closed, highly modern and process optimized packaging and logistics building has a simple larchwood skin. This is an obvious visual reference to the woods at the foot of the mountains of Innsbruck’s Nordkette to the north. The generous warehouse with its solid timber construction has space for more than 2,000 palettes. “The space is almost too attractive to be merely used as a warehouse,” said Roland Kohl, Managing Director of Cura Marketing GmbH, during the inauguration ceremony for the new building. In addition to this, the bright and transparent office spaces with their communicative office structure also surprised the interested guests.
