Children and Career
Visit by the Minister for Family and Youth
Innsbruck, 22nd June 2015 – During her visit to Tyrol, Austria’s Minister for Family and Youth Sophie Karmasin explained that family friendly policies are not just a question of social engagement but something of elementary importance for Austria’s economic future and quality of life. Her “Companies for Families” initiative seeks to make it a matter of course that family and career can be combined. ATP already practices this and hence a visit to the Innsbruck office of ATP architects engineers was part of her program.
“ATP is a pioneer in the sector for the way it makes children and career compatible,” confirmed Gerald Hulka, ATP’s partner in Innsbruck. In his discussion with Minister Karmasin he looked back on the three years since ATP was nominated for the State Prize for the most family friendly company.
This compatibility of children and career is one of a number of related measures at ATP. Flexible working times and home-working take special account of the needs of individual families. The company also has an ambitious target to support women’s careers and train them for top management positions. After taking maternity leave female employees with children can return to the company full time or part time and receive a wide range of support. Their children are welcome in the company’s own ATPünktchen nursery where they are looked after by trained educators who encourage their linguistic, musical, motor and creative skills.
